Hearing Loss
This section is largely descriptive, dealing with the mechanics and medical aspects of hearing losses: the types, indicators, causes and implications for the child/teen in the classroom. You can find information about audiograms, hearinging aids, and cochlear implants in this section. Children with a hearing loss are individuals first and bring with them their own needs, experiences and cultural background. Decisions are made by parents, in conjunction with medical and educational professionals based on each individual child. More specific information realted to Deaf culture and education are discussed in a different sections.
