Hello, Welcome to the Provincial Outreach Program for Deaf and hard of Hearing students in the Province of B.C. This program is called “The Provincial Outreach Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students”. This program is designed to support ALL deaf and hard of hearing students in the province of B.C. The name of the Province is spelled B-R-I-T-I-S-H C-O-L-U-M-B-I-A. My name is Karen Taylor and I am the administrator of this program. This website is designed to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, as I’ve already mentioned. What is our goal? It is to provide access to and general information about Deafness and hearing loss. We need to have access to current information, resources and possibilities for professional development for teachers, parents, families, students and all professionals who interact with Deaf and hard of hearing students in B.C. We hope to provide a place or venue where we can exchange (share) experiences, ideas with all people from other countries, other provinces, states (USA). It doesn’t matter. The information is important.

The main goal is to provide information about:

(1) Education

(2) Community collaboration

(3) Communication

(4) Visual Media / Technology

(5) Resources and technology in the Provincial Resource Library

(6) Wellness or how you socialize with other students. This is really important.

(7) Professional Development for teachers and other professionals working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Lastly, I am secretariat to the Ministry of Education Committee called Provincial Education Review Committee for Deaf or PERCD.  So, we hope when you go into this website you will find information, student focused activities to support all Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the province.  Thank You.
